Flackable, a national financial public relations agency headquartered in Wyomissing, PA, has pledged a five-year donation plan to support Smile Train, the world’s largest cleft charity dedicated to spreading awareness of and providing treatment to children born with a cleft lip or palate in the developing world.
Flackable has pledged a $15,000 donation over a five-year period. This donation will help to repair one child’s cleft lip or palate every month for the duration of the partnership. Smile Train reports that there are more than 170,000 children each year who are born with a cleft lip and/or palate. The donation guarantees that 60 children will receive life-changing cleft repair surgery through Smile Train’s sustainable “teach a man to fish” model, which empowers local doctors in the developing world with the training and funding they need to provide 100%-free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care in their own communities.
Founded in 2014 by financial marketing innovator Brian Hart, Flackable is a public relations and digital marketing agency serving financial advisors and other small to mid-sized financial services firms across the United States. Hart, a long-time supporter of Smile Train, hopes to bring attention and support to the charity’s worldwide cleft repair efforts.
“It’s an amazing organization,” says Hart. “These children deserve a shot at a healthy, happy and productive life, and I’m so proud that we’re supporting Smile Train’s mission to ensure that these kids get that chance.”
Millions of children in developing countries with untreated clefts live in shame, but, more importantly, have difficulty eating, breathing and speaking. Cleft repair surgery is simple, and the transformation is immediate. Smile Train’s outreach has impacted the lives of children in 85+ countries, where it has provided countless local doctors with funding and education to properly care for patients and their families. Since its founding in 1999, Smile Train has provided more than one million cleft repair surgeries across the world.
“Smile Train is thankful for the generous support of our corporate partners, who help us spread awareness and expand our footprint globally to reach more children suffering from clefts,” says Samantha Johnston, Manager, Corporate Partnerships, Smile Train. “Flackable’s five-year pledge will help transform the lives of 60 children across the globe, and we truly appreciate their support and commitment to our work.”
