In March of 2016, Flackable pledged a five-year, $15,000 donation plan to support Smile Train, the world’s largest cleft charity dedicated to spreading awareness of and providing treatment to children born with a cleft lip or palate in the developing world.
The donation guarantees that 60 children will receive life-changing cleft repair surgery through Smile Train’s sustainable “teach a man to fish” model, which empowers local doctors in the developing world with the training and funding they need to provide 100%-free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care in their own communities.
Cleft is far more than a cosmetic issue. It also impairs eating, breathing and speaking, social isolation, and prevents children from fully participating in their communities.
Since its founding in 1999, Smile Train has provided new smiles – and opportunities for full, productive lives – to more than one million children across the world. To learn more, please visit smiletrain.org.
